Medical Supplies and Wheelchairs Bound for Clinic
Recently, Global Operations & Development loaded and shipped a 40-foot container of medical equipment and supplies to the Nursing Department and on-campus clinic at Valley View University in Ghana.
Global Operations & Development partnered with Students in Free Enterprise from La Sierra University, located in Riverside, CA, to bring much needed items to Valley View University.
The Republic of Ghana is a country in West Africa. It borders Côte d’Ivoire to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. As of 2006 the ratio of doctors per population in Ghana stood at 160,000 to 1.
Students in Free Enterprise is a global non-profit organization that is active in more than 40 countries. SIFE was awarded first place at the World SIFE Competition for their work in Ghana. Global Operations & Development is proud to partner with such inspirational students.
Second Shipment in Tansit to Valley
View University
La Sierra University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team partners with
Global Operations and Development (GO&D) to increase computer literacy in Ghana.
Right now the second container from the partnership between La Sierra
University and Global Operations and Development is in transit to Valley
View University close to Accra, Ghana. The container has 275 computers,
monitors, network switches and other equipment. The computers will be used
for several pilot programs designed to empower the people of Ghana to
benefit from the global opportunities that come with computer literacy and
networking with the world. Among the programs are training in the basic
computer skills for area residences and Valley View students. Part of the
training will include helping persons learn how to market the skills they
have learned to give them tangible benefits for their lives. Valley View
University is also piloting programs where computers will be donated to
area primary and secondary schools. The computers will be periodically
maintained by Valley View students to assure effective use of the
computers by the schools. Many of the primary students had never even seen
a computer. Now they will be able to gain valuable life skills early. SIFE
is planning to start a presence at Valley View this year to assist with
these programs and other training in micro business.
The partnership with Valley View University provides many exciting
opportunities to serve effectively in Ghana. Our vision is that all
peoples should be able to share in the blessings that we often take for
granted. If you would like to be part of it or contribute to specific
projects, please contact Marvin Payne, La Sierra University. Marvin
is on the Board of Directors for GO&D.

Computers for the Community
Global Operations and Development(GO&D), in collaboration with Giving Children Hope, is sending computers to Oyibi, Ghana to be distributed to Valley View University (link: www.vvu.edu.gh), and local grade schools. 100 computers have been donated to Global Operations and Development/Giving Children Hope (GO∓D/GCH) and will be delivered to GO&D's Buena Park headquarters next week.
The computers, along with soccer uniforms, toys, school supplies, and vacation Bible school kits, will be shipped to Oyibi and distributed among schools in need. Thirty computers have been allocated for Valley View University, a Seventh-Day Adventist institution serving students from 15 African countries, while the other seventy will be used to create computer labs in local grade schools.
Funds are currently being raised to cover shipping and transportation costs to Ghana.
